Board Expectations
A Guide to ABC Director Involvement
ABC Carolinas Board is engaged. Each individual Board member contributes according to his/her strengths and interests, but more importantly, everyone has a commitment to free enterprise and the Merit Shop!
With this in mind, below is a list of those things a Director is asked to do each year:
►Attend all Board Meetings (usually, one per month); the Board’s goal is that 100% of all Directors attend 90% of the Board meetings.
►Attend as many Chapter events (mixers, outings etc.) as possible; the Board’s goal is that 100% of all Directors attend at least 50% of the Chapter’s minor events and 75% of the major events.
►Make a financial contribution to legislative entities
►Attend a Directors’ Orientation Session.
►Assist with membership retention telephone calls by calling the non-renewed members with whom you have a relationship.
►Actively encourage members of your management team and/or others in your company, to get involved with ABC Carolinas
►Actively work at recruiting new ABC members; we have a great sales team ready to help you! Each Director will be asked to commit to how many members they believe they can recruit for the year. The minimum commitment shall be no less than one.
►If necessary, act as a committee liaison, as assigned by the Chairperson of the Board; the liaisons monitor a committee’s activities and reports back to the Board once a year, or as needed.
►Act as a liaison between ABC and our member firms in relaying concerns, questions, etc.
►Be involved in the development of the Strategic Plan and monitor its execution; provide oversight of the annual budget.
Other activities as requested by the Chair of the Board.
In addition to the above expectations of each Director, you are asked to give consideration to:
►Participating or having someone in your firm participate in the National ABC Legislative Day (Washington DC) and Hard Hat days in your respective state.
►Attending the National ABC meetings that are appropriate and of value to you.
